In 1978, A&B Gunite was started by Bill Barclay and Dan Adams with little more than a small loan from a bank, $500.00 cash from a friend, and a dream to build a new company. From meager beginnings, the two started out with only one truck and one customer.

From 1978 to 1985, Dan and Bill specialized in plaster and tile and coping, building upon that dream and slowly becoming one of the largest pool subcontractors within the Southwestern United States.

But in 1985, they did something considered remarkable within the industry. A & B Gunite was formed, and the newest division of the company became the first pool contractor to bring an innovative cement application called dry shot gunite to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. It instantly revolutionized swimming pool construction and the industry as a whole.

The cement application process would never be the same again.

Since 1978, A & B Gunite has continued to be an innovator and leader in swimming pool construction. The company remains one of the largest subcontractors in the Southwestern United States. Their premier gunite services supports many swimming pool builders, large and small, to deliver the highest quality construction to their own customers and clientele.

In 2023, A&B Gunite added a new service. Along with 38 plus years of pioneering achievements in the dry-shot gunite industry, A&B added shotcrete services. Now called A&B Gunite and Shotcrete, our professionals have years of achievement in both applications. Specifically, as it applies to shotcrete, our foreman and finishers have an additional level of expertise.
